A Friend in Need...

It seems like this past summer riding season has been packed full of fellow motorcycle and chopper riders ending up on the losing side of a motorcycle/car collisions. Everyone we see helps keep us a little more alert and trying to keep ourselves with the shiny side up. Unfortunately we don't always get to be in charge of
how things end up.

A very good friend of ours was t-boned on his shovelhead chopper by a left turning vehicle one week ago. Ross Stickrod was out for a ride last Friday evening and instead of enjoying the cooler late summer Phoenix evening temps he found himself spending the night in the ICU with a laundry list of damage. Injuries include a dislocated and fractured
left hip socket, broken left knee cap, wrist and both bones in his right forearm broken and a broken right femur. The doctors have said it will be 3 months before he will be walking and around a year and a half before he is recovered to a semi normal condition. Needless to say, he will not be able to get back to work
as refrigeration tech at Fry's food stores for quite some time.

Not only is Ross hard working tradesman and a loving and dedicated husband to his wife Diana, and father to his little boy Weston, he is a great friend and true blue chopper rider. He was one of the first people I met in Phoenix ten years ago that was running around town on a rigid Triumph chopper. At that time he was actually living with Doug and Kelly and I knew they were a group of guys that I wanted to become friends with.

We are fortunate that even with all of his serious injuries, it didn't turn out worse. Although AZ law doesn't require helmets Ross was wearing his and it literally saved his life. After the initial impact he was thrown into the windshield and over the top of the car, hitting his head on the ground before coming to a stop at the edge of the street.

We are currently organizing a benefit event for Ross that will take place in the next month. Stay tuned here for details on exact date and location. If there are any of our friends out there in the interweb that would like to contribute a raffle prize to help raise money for Ross you can email us or just send it to the shop @ Haifley Brothers, 2626 E Brill St, Phoenix, AZ 85008

Or if you would like to send a donation of any size you can do so via PayPal to:
rdstickrod@hotmail.com

Also, stayed tuned here for more info on the benefit event and other fundraising offers we will be doing.

The Stickrod family, The Haifley Brothers, and all of our friends and family thank you for taking the time to read this, please send positive thoughts his way for a speedy and full recovery.
